A group calling itself the People’s Anti-Corruption Movement for State-Owned Enterprises (GERAK BUMN) staged a demonstration outside the Danantara Indonesia headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (July 3). During the protest, the group called for a comprehensive evaluation of the corporate governance of PT Pelindo and PT Pelindo Solusi Terminal Petikemas (SPTP).
According to JPNN, GERAK BUMN Coordinator M. Adnan argued that both companies are facing serious challenges, ranging from weak operational coordination to recurring workplace safety incidents. He said these issues highlight the need for a thorough management overhaul to improve the performance of the state-owned enterprises.
In addition to demanding a review of the companies’ leadership, the protesters also called for an independent audit of asset management across several Pelindo terminals. They believe such an audit is necessary to ensure that business operations are conducted in accordance with the principles of professionalism, efficiency, transparency, and the national interest.
The group further urged Danantara, as the manager of Indonesia’s strategic state-owned assets, to take firm action if governance problems are identified. According to GERAK BUMN, strengthening corporate governance is essential to maintaining public trust in strategic state-owned enterprises and ensuring greater accountability in their operations.
