JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto once again issued a stern warning to corrupt officials. He urged those involved in corruption to stop practices that harm the state and the people.
In his remarks on Sunday (July 12), Prabowo called on those who have benefited from corruption to realize their wrongdoing.
“Hey, you corrupt officials, or those who have committed corruption, if possible, come to your senses. Hey, return what you have stolen. We will give you a chance. Stop your practices,” Prabowo said.
According to Prabowo, the government remains committed to combating corruption because it is one of the main obstacles to national development. He stressed that Indonesia’s wealth should benefit all its people, not be controlled by a handful of individuals through the abuse of power.
The statement reaffirmed Prabowo’s stance, which he has repeatedly expressed on various occasions, that Indonesia must wage a firm fight against corruption. Previously, he also emphasized that no country can prosper if it fails to rid itself of corruption and abuse of power.
The speech once again signaled that combating corruption remains one of the top priorities of the Prabowo administration amid public attention on several major corruption cases currently being handled by law enforcement authorities.
