President Prabowo Subianto stressed that the government will reform State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), saying they have long been one of the sources of corruption. At the same time, he again urged corrupt officials to stop their practices and return the state’s stolen assets.
Prabowo made the remarks while addressing the peak celebration of the 79th National Cooperatives Day at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, on Sunday.
“We will put the SOEs in order. For too long, SOEs have been a source of corruption,” Prabowo said.
According to the President, the government is committed to strengthening SOE governance to make it more professional, transparent, and beneficial to the public.
On the same occasion, Prabowo also issued a stern warning to corrupt officials to stop engaging in practices that harm the state. He said the public is becoming increasingly aware of corruption and expects firm law enforcement.
“Hey, corrupt officials, come to your senses. Stop your practices, stop. The people are not foolish. Return the people’s wealth, return it properly,” Prabowo said.
The President emphasized that combating corruption remains one of the government’s top priorities, including through improving the governance of SOEs as part of broader efforts to strengthen the national economy and enhance public welfare.
