Jakarta – R. Mahelan Prabantarikso has been entrusted with a new role as President Director of PT Asuransi Kredit Indonesia (Askrindo). The appointment marks a change in leadership at the insurance and guarantee company, which is part of the Indonesia Financial Group (IFG) holding.
The appointment was announced by the MBA FEB UGM through its official Instagram account. In the post, MBA FEB UGM congratulated Mahelan on his new responsibility as President Director of Askrindo.
Mahelan is not a new figure at Askrindo. Previously, he served as the company’s Director of Compliance, Human Resources, and Risk Management. He assumed the position in late 2024 following an appointment through decisions by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and IFG.
Academically, Mahelan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Jenderal Soedirman University in 1993. He went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Management from Gadjah Mada University in 2004 and a Doctorate in Management from IPB University in 2018. He also holds several professional certifications in risk management and human resources.
Before joining Askrindo, Mahelan gained extensive experience in the banking and insurance sectors. He previously served as Director of Strategy, Compliance, and Risk at PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk from 2017 to 2019, as well as Director of Risk Management, Human Resources, and General Affairs at PT Asuransi Jiwasraya from 2020 to 2023.
In its business operations, Askrindo has focused on three main pillars: strengthening government-assigned business, expanding its BUMN and corporate segments, and developing retail businesses such as microinsurance, parametric insurance, travel insurance, and motor vehicle insurance.
The leadership change marks a new chapter for Askrindo, which was previously led by M. Fankar Umran. As of the latest information available, Askrindo’s official website still lists Fankar as President Director, indicating that the company’s management page may not yet have been updated following the latest appointment.
