Sudden Power Outage Hits South Jakarta and South Tangerang, PLN Reveals the Cause

JAKARTA – State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) has revealed the cause of the power outage that affected several areas in South Jakarta and South Tangerang on Monday (August 3, 2026) morning. The disruption was caused by a disturbance in the electricity supply from the Gandul Substation to Cirendeu, which occurred at approximately 4:59 a.m. WIB.

Haris Andika, Senior Manager of Communications and General Affairs at PLN’s Jakarta Distribution Main Unit (UID Jakarta Raya), said that after ensuring the electrical system was safe, the company immediately initiated recovery measures. The restoration process began at 5:14 a.m. WIB, with technical crews deployed to gradually restore electricity to the affected areas.

According to Haris, power restoration continued in stages until around 7:00 a.m. WIB, when electricity service to customers had largely returned to normal. He emphasized that all restoration efforts were carried out while prioritizing the safety and stability of the power system to prevent further disruptions.

PLN also apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage. The company urged customers who continue to experience electricity problems after the restoration process to report them through the PLN Mobile application or the PLN 123 Contact Center, allowing technicians to provide further assistance.

Earlier that morning, residents across several parts of South Jakarta and South Tangerang reported widespread power outages that temporarily disrupted daily activities before electricity was gradually restored by PLN.
