Gibran: Government Speeds Up Infrastructure and Essential Services Recovery in Aceh
JAKARTA – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating the recovery of infrastructure and essential public services in Aceh following recent hydrometeorological disasters. The statement was made during his working visit to the province on Thursday (Aug. 6), where he reviewed the progress of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
Gibran said the visit was intended to assess recovery efforts on the ground and hear directly from affected communities. He emphasized that while significant progress has been made, the government remains committed to addressing remaining challenges to ensure a faster and more effective recovery.
“The government is working to accelerate the restoration of infrastructure and essential public services in Aceh. There is still work to be done, and we remain open to constructive feedback to improve the recovery process,” Gibran said.
During the visit, the Vice President inspected several strategic infrastructure projects, including the Teupin Mane National Bridge and Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Bireuen Regency, the Lumut Bridge in Central Aceh Regency, and the Kendawi Suspension Bridge in Gayo Lues Regency. He also reviewed the revitalization of SD Negeri 7 Jangka in Bireuen to ensure that educational services have resumed properly.
According to Gibran, restoring transportation infrastructure is a top priority because bridges and public facilities are vital for reconnecting communities, supporting economic activities, and improving access to essential services. He added that the central government will continue overseeing reconstruction projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and meet safety standards.
