National Police Chief Appoints Inspector General Asep Safrudin as New Criminal Investigation Chief

JAKARTA — National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto has reshuffled a number of senior and mid-ranking police officers. One of the key changes is the appointment of Inspector General Asep Safrudin as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police.

The appointment is stipulated in National Police Chief Telegram Letter Number ST/2205/X/KEP./2026, dated October 2, 2026. Asep Safrudin previously served as Chief of the Riau Islands Regional Police.

Asep replaces Commissioner General Syahardiantono, who has been reassigned as a senior officer at the Criminal Investigation Agency as part of an assignment at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).

To fill the position of Riau Islands Police Chief vacated by Asep, the National Police Chief appointed Inspector General Suhendri. Suhendri previously served as a Senior Jibom Technician at the National Police Mobile Brigade Corps.

Head of the National Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir said the transfers and rotations were part of organizational dynamics. The changes were made according to organizational needs and as part of career development and organizational renewal within the police force.

The reshuffle involved a total of 88 senior and mid-ranking police officers. In addition to the Kabareskrim position, several strategic positions at National Police Headquarters and regional police commands were also changed.

At National Police Headquarters, the position of Chief of the Intelligence and Security Agency (Kabaintelkam) is now held by Inspector General Dedy Kusuma Bakti, replacing Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan. Meanwhile, the position of Chief of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) has been assigned to Inspector General Hery Heryawan, who previously served as Chief of the Riau Regional Police.
