Prabowo Nominates Aida S Budiman as Candidate for Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has nominated Bank Indonesia (BI) Deputy Governor Aida S Budiman as a candidate for the position of Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia.
House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani said Aida’s name was included in a presidential letter submitted by Prabowo to the DPR. The letter also contains the nomination of Destry Damayanti as a candidate for BI Governor, along with two candidates for BI Deputy Governor.
“One candidate for Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia is Aida S Budiman,” Puan said at the DPR complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
In addition to Aida, Prabowo has nominated Solihin M Juhro and M Anwar Bashori as candidates for BI Deputy Governor.
Puan said all of the names proposed by the President would go through the procedures and mechanisms applicable in the DPR. Once the process is completed, the DPR will approve the candidates before they are formally appointed by the President.
“They will then be inaugurated by the President. Since the new parliamentary session begins on August 14, we will process these names according to the DPR’s established mechanism afterward,” Puan said.
Fit and Proper Tests to Begin Next Week
Puan said the DPR is expected to begin the fit and proper test process for the candidates for BI Governor and Deputy Governors next week.
“Yes. Next week, the process under the DPR’s mechanism will immediately begin,” said Puan, a senior PDI-P politician.
The parliamentary process will therefore begin after the DPR officially opens its new session on August 14, 2026.
