Mitratel Speaks Out on Merger Rumors with Tower Bersama

Jakarta — PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL), or Mitratel, has responded to reports of a planned merger with PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG).
The response was delivered by PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) through its SVP of Group Sustainability & Corporate Communication, Ahmad Reza. He said Mitratel regularly evaluates various strategic options to support business development and create long-term value.
“As part of TelkomGroup, Mitratel regularly evaluates various strategic options to support business development and create long-term value,” said Ahmad Reza, as quoted by CNBC Indonesia.
However, Telkom has not confirmed specific information regarding the proposed merger between Mitratel and Tower Bersama.
“Regarding the specific information, the Company is currently unable to provide further comment,” he said.
Telkom emphasized that if there is material information that needs to be disclosed to the public, the company will communicate it through information disclosure mechanisms and official channels in accordance with applicable regulations.
Previously, market rumors circulated that Mitratel had asked advisers to submit a plan regarding a possible merger with Tower Bersama.
The consolidation plan between the two companies is not entirely new. Similar discussions took place in 2015 when Tower Bersama planned to acquire shares in Mitratel. However, the transaction was eventually canceled after failing to obtain further approval.
