JAKARTA – Security at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters (Polda Metro Jaya) was tightened on Thursday (July 9), with several tactical vehicles belonging to the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) deployed throughout the compound. Armed officers were also stationed at key locations as part of heightened security measures.
Security was reinforced at both the entrance and inside the police headquarters. Brimob tactical vehicles were positioned at several points to safeguard the premises and evidence that has been secured by investigators.
Earlier, a joint team from the National Police Anti-Corruption Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police conducted searches at 12 locations as part of investigations into alleged corruption cases involving state-owned companies PLN, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. During one of the searches at a residence in Sentul, investigators seized 74 kilograms of gold bullion, large amounts of cash in multiple currencies, and other assets with an estimated total value of Rp476 billion.
As of now, police have not issued an official statement indicating any specific security threat. Authorities said the heightened security is a precautionary measure to protect the headquarters, personnel, and evidence related to the ongoing investigations.
