JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized SGD12,000 (approximately Rp168 million) as part of an ongoing corruption investigation involving suspended Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent, Suhardiman Amby.
According to detikcom, the money was allegedly part of an envelope containing Singapore dollars that had previously been returned by Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni to Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby following a meeting between the two on June 2, 2026.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the money was confiscated from Kuansing Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Speaker Juprizal, who was questioned as a witness. In addition to the SGD12,000, investigators also seized Rp15 million in cash from another witness, Fahdiansyah. Both sums are believed to be linked to an application process for the conversion of forest land.
The KPK suspects that Juprizal was aware of efforts by Suhardiman to collect funds from members of a Village Unit Cooperative (KUD). The funds were allegedly gathered to facilitate the release of forest areas under the authority of the Ministry of Forestry. Investigators are continuing to examine the connection between the seized money and the alleged corruption case.
Earlier, Raja Juli Antoni acknowledged that Suhardiman had left an envelope at his office after their meeting. Believing it was inappropriate to accept the money, Raja Juli instructed his aide to return the envelope to Suhardiman on June 12, 2026—well before the KPK launched its sting operation (OTT). Raja Juli also reported the incident to the KPK.
