JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office has broken its silence after a police search of a house in Sentul, Bogor, linked to Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah sparked public attention. During the operation, investigators reportedly seized cash, foreign currencies, and gold bars worth hundreds of billions of rupiah.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday (July 10), Febrie Adriansyah delivered a nine-point clarification regarding the search and the allegations surrounding the case.
First, Febrie acknowledged that the searched property is one of his residences. However, he stressed that the house and all assets associated with it were legally acquired and can be fully accounted for.
Second, he denied rumors claiming he had resigned from his position as Jampidsus, emphasizing that he remains in office and continues to oversee major corruption investigations.
Third, Febrie said he respects the investigation conducted by the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Corps (Kortastipidkor) and supports any law enforcement process carried out in accordance with legal procedures. He also called for mutual respect among law enforcement institutions.
Fourth, addressing speculation linking him to an alleged corruption case involving coal supplies for coal-fired power plants that reportedly contributed to widespread blackouts, Febrie said he does not understand how his name became associated with the investigation and urged the public to wait for official findings.
Fifth, he argued that if the investigation concerns coal procurement, authorities should conduct a comprehensive audit covering procurement mechanisms, coal quality, demand calculations, and financial transactions to determine whether any criminal acts occurred.
Sixth, Febrie appealed to the public not to jump to conclusions before investigators complete their work, stressing that legal facts should be established through due process rather than public speculation.
Seventh, he reaffirmed that the Attorney General’s Office will continue to perform its duties professionally and will not be influenced by public narratives or external pressure.
Eighth, Febrie emphasized the importance of upholding the presumption of innocence until the investigation reaches a lawful conclusion.
Finally, he reiterated that the Office of the Attorney General remains committed to combating corruption and will continue supporting objective, transparent, and accountable law enforcement.
