JAKARTA – The Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the National Police’s Corruption Crime Corps (Kortastipidkor), have questioned businessman Tan Kian as a witness in an investigation into three alleged corruption cases following coordinated raids at 12 locations across Jakarta and Bogor. Authorities confirmed that Tan Kian currently remains a witness in the investigation.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto said investigators have questioned 15 witnesses, including Tan Kian. Investigators have also sought statements from representatives of several companies, money changers, and other individuals believed to have information relevant to the ongoing cases.
The investigation is being conducted through a joint investigation involving the National Police’s Corruption Crime Corps and the Jakarta Police’s Special Crimes Directorate. The three cases under investigation include alleged corruption in coal procurement for the state electricity company PT PLN, alleged corruption involving PT Asabri and PT Jiwasraya, as well as alleged corruption and money laundering related to the settlement of debts between PT CBS and PT KNI.
According to Budi Hermanto, evidence obtained from the raids and witness examinations has led investigators to further examine allegations of corruption, bribery, gratuities, and money laundering connected to the three cases. As of now, police have not announced any new suspects.
Tan Kian had previously been linked to the Asabri corruption case. However, authorities emphasized that in the current investigation he is being questioned solely as a witness.
