JAKARTA — PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, also known as InJourney Airports, has revealed why it is no longer managing Dhoho Kediri Airport in East Java. Management of the airport was officially transferred entirely to PT Surya Dhoho Investama (SDhI) as of October 1, 2026.
InJourney Airports Operations Director Agus Haryadi said the decision was not due to a breach of contract or failure to fulfill the terms of the cooperation agreement. Instead, the termination of the cooperation was requested by SDhI.
“So, from our side, it was not because the terms of the agreement were not fulfilled. It was their request,” Agus said at the Transportation Journalists Forum Workshop, as quoted by Bisnis.
According to Agus, one of the factors affecting Dhoho Airport was its relatively low flight traffic. This occurred as the national aviation industry has also faced pressure from various external factors.
One of these factors was the global geopolitical situation, which contributed to higher aviation fuel prices. Fuel costs are considered one of the significant components of airline operating expenses.
Nevertheless, Agus emphasized that the end of the cooperation agreement did not mean Dhoho Airport would be closed. Airport operations would continue under the new management.
The Ministry of Transportation had previously confirmed that Dhoho Airport would remain part of the national air transportation system. Management of the airport was assigned to SDhI through Directorate General of Civil Aviation Decision No. KP-DJPU 216 of 2026.
The termination agreement for the joint operation between Angkasa Pura Indonesia and SDhI was signed on August 31, 2026. The process covered the settlement of the parties’ rights and obligations, a transition period, the handover of documents and assets, and the transfer of operational responsibilities.
Therefore, the change at Dhoho Airport does not represent a suspension of flight services, but rather a change in the management structure and the party responsible for operating the airport.
