JAKARTA – The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has been designated as the provider of the initial capital for the establishment of the Indonesia International Financial Center (PFII). However, this capital injection does not automatically make Danantara the owner or grant it controlling rights over the institution managing PFII.
This provision is stipulated in the PFII Law, which states that the initial capital of the PFII Management Institution may come from Danantara and other lawful sources. The funds are intended to support the institution’s initial operations and establishment.
Despite serving as the initial capital provider, the PFII Management Institution is designed to remain an independent entity. Its governance is to be carried out transparently and accountably, meaning Danantara will not obtain ownership rights or the authority to control the institution’s policy direction.
BPI Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani previously stated that the capital provision will be carried out gradually in line with the preparation of technical regulations and the development of the PFII ecosystem. The government is also studying international financial centers such as the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) so that the model adopted in Indonesia can attract global investment.
The government estimates that the presence of PFII has the potential to attract direct investment of around Rp300 trillion–Rp500 trillion, depending on regulatory competitiveness, legal certainty, and the interest of international investors.
Accordingly, Danantara’s capital injection is primarily the implementation of the mandate under the law to finance the establishment of PFII, rather than an investment that grants controlling rights as is commonly the case with share ownership in a company.
