Who Are the Ministers Accompanying Prabowo to Russia?

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto departed for Vladivostok, Russia, on Tuesday (September 1, 2026), to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). He was accompanied by several ministers overseeing economic affairs, diplomacy, energy, education, and investment, as well as the Cabinet Secretary.

The presidential aircraft carrying Prabowo and his delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at around 11:20 p.m. local time.

Prabowo is visiting Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin to serve as the guest of honor at the 11th EEF, which is being held at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok.

Six officials were listed as accompanying Prabowo on the flight to Russia. The delegation consists of five ministers and the Cabinet Secretary.

1. Airlangga Hartarto

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto is among the officials accompanying Prabowo.

Airlangga’s presence is linked to the government’s agenda to strengthen economic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia. Economic relations, trade and investment are among the areas expected to receive attention during the visit.

2. Sugiono

Foreign Minister Sugiono is also part of the presidential delegation.

His participation is particularly relevant to Prabowo’s diplomatic agenda in Russia, including a planned bilateral meeting with President Putin. In addition to attending the EEF, Prabowo is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with the Russian leader.

3. Bahlil Lahadalia

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is another member of the delegation.

Bahlil’s participation is connected to potential cooperation in the energy sector, one of the strategic areas Indonesia and Russia are seeking to strengthen. The government has identified energy cooperation as one of the key issues during Prabowo’s visit.

4. Brian Yuliarto

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto is also accompanying the President to Vladivostok.

Brian joins the delegation alongside the other ministers. The government has previously said that Prabowo’s visit is not limited to economic and investment issues but could also open opportunities for cooperation in other strategic sectors.

5. Rosan Roeslani

Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani is also part of Prabowo’s delegation.

Rosan’s presence underscores the focus on investment and downstreaming during the visit. The government intends to use the trip to promote more concrete and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, including in the investment sector.

6. Teddy Indra Wijaya

In addition to the five ministers, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya is accompanying President Prabowo to Russia.

Teddy previously explained that Prabowo’s participation in the EEF is part of efforts to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Russia.

“President Putin specifically invited President Prabowo as the guest of honor at the EEF. This reflects the close relationship between Indonesia and Russia, which continues to be built and strengthened through direct diplomacy between the two leaders,” Teddy said.

According to Teddy, this marks the second time Prabowo has been invited as a guest of honor at an international economic forum hosted by Russia. Previously, Prabowo attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025.

“Russia views Indonesia as one of its key and strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific, a respected ASEAN member, as well as an important country representing the Global South and the Muslim world. This demonstrates Indonesia’s strategic position in global affairs,” Teddy said.

Focus on Economic and Energy Cooperation

Prabowo’s visit to Vladivostok is not solely aimed at attending the EEF. The government also plans to use the opportunity to expand bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.

Several areas are expected to receive attention, including the economy, trade, investment, energy, and other strategic sectors.

Prabowo arrived in Vladivostok on Wednesday (September 2, 2026), at around 10:45 a.m. local time. He was welcomed by several Russian officials and representatives of the Indonesian diplomatic mission.

Prabowo’s presence as the guest of honor at the 11th EEF marks an important moment in Indonesia-Russia relations, particularly as both countries seek to advance more concrete cooperation amid Indonesia’s increasingly strategic position in the Asia-Pacific region.
