Jakarta – Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, has officially merged four state-owned investment management companies into a single entity, with Mandiri Manajemen Investasi (Mandiri MI) designated as the surviving entity. The move is part of Danantara’s broader consolidation strategy to establish the country’s largest asset management company.
The four firms involved in the merger are PNM Investment Management, BNI Asset Management, BRI Manajemen Investasi, and Mandiri Manajemen Investasi. The decision was made during a meeting led by Danantara Chief Executive Officer and Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries Rosan Roeslani, Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria, and Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir on Tuesday (July 7).
Danantara COO Dony Oskaria emphasized that the merger is not merely about simplifying the corporate structure, but rather about optimizing the management of state-owned assets to make them more productive and generate greater value for the national economy.
“Streamlining is not the ultimate goal. The most important thing is ensuring that state-owned assets that have already been reorganized can be managed more optimally, become more productive, and truly create added value for the country,” Dony said.
Through the merger, Danantara aims to establish Indonesia’s largest asset management company, capable of integrating state-owned enterprise asset portfolios, strengthening corporate governance, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the country’s attractiveness to both domestic and international investors.
In addition to improving efficiency, the consolidation is expected to eliminate overlapping functions among the companies, strengthen investment product development, and maximize the utilization of state-owned assets under Danantara’s management. The success of the integration is expected to become a key benchmark in the transformation of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises toward a more professional and value-driven asset management system.
